We’ve even included a special Memorial Day commemoration event at Seawolf Park to remind us of the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day—to honor all of the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country.
What’s Happening Around Galveston During Memorial Weekend?
Memorial Madness Beach Volleyball, Saturday, May 25, 9am
Before you enjoy the festivities of the island, get active with The Gulf Coast Volleyball Association during the “Memorial Madness” Tournament at East Beach.
Entry fee is $25 per person and $50 per team. You do not have to be a GCVA member to participate. Check-in is at East Beach at 8:30am, Player’s Meeting at 8:45am and tournaments begins promptly at 9am. Free T-shirts for first 100 players who check in at the beach. Register here: gcva.wufoo.com.

Holiday Inn Resort Memorial Party at BJ Jiggers, Sunday May 26th, 8pm
If you’re feeling a little nostalgic this Memorial Weekend, hit up the Holiday Inn Resort for live music by the Secret Party Band. If you love 70s, 80s, and 90s classic rock and pop, this is the place to be.
Memorial Day Ceremony at Seawolf Park, Monday, May 27, 11am-12pm
The American Undersea Warfare Center at Seawolf Park will once again honor the brave men and women who lost their lives serving our country. A special ceremony will be held at the park’s Memorial Plaza starting at 11am. The event is free and open to the public. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. For details, call (409) 770-3196. Live Music at Pleasure Pier, Monday, May 27, 2pm-6pm
For a festive vibe, enjoy waterfront entertainment at one of Galveston’s most popular landmarks, Pleasure Pier. In addition to live music, your family will enjoy a selection of retail shops, games, and food. Concert may be cancelled due to weather.
