Just an hour’s drive away, climb aboard the Texas State Railroad for a relaxing ride and a delicious 3-course meal during the season’s inaugural steam weekend. Train riders will also get to view a display of vintage “iron horses” at the Palestine depot. It’s time to relax and watch the views go by!
The Carry the Load Dallas Memorial March, Dallas, TX
2 Day Rally: Starts Sunday, May 26th at 12pm; Ends Monday, May 27th 1:30pm
Take a short Memorial weekend road trip just 2 hours away. This 2-day rally serves to remind US citizens what Memorial Day is all about: a day to honor military service members who gave their lives for the sake of our country’s freedom. Participants will join a 20-hour walk starting May 26th at Reverchon Park. The event features music, inspirational speeches, stories of fallen heroes, flag ceremonies, and more. You can even pitch a tent and bond with family, friends, and community members. No registration or payment is required to attend. Volunteer opportunities available. Don’t forget to stay hydrated in the heat!
Memorial Day Celebration at the Historic Texas Pool: Plano, TX,

Enjoy some people and pool time at this Texas-shaped, Texas-sized pool in Plano. $5 admission. The Grill Masters from 5-Ohh BBQ will be grilling out with live music from local musicians. Camp chairs, canopies, and coolers (non-alcoholic beverages) welcome. Remember, keep your eye on your children at all times to prevent drowning!
