Why Social Distancing is Still Important

social distancing is still important

As we enter into what seems like the 20th month of surviving the coronavirus, some states are beginning to open back up. Residents can get back to doing some of the things they did before the quarantine. Unfortunately, even as cities lift restrictions, it’s important for everyone to continue to social distance. The last thing we want to see is the virus making a comeback.

Social Distancing is Still Important, and Here’s Why:

According to the CDC and public health professionals, it’s important to continue social distancing because of the following reasons:

  1. The number of cases haven’t decreased as experts first thought they would. They have even continued to rise in some areas.
  2. Asymptomatic individuals can spread the virus.
  3. There are still many unknowns about the virus.
  4. There is still not enough testing.
  5. A vaccine hasn’t been created yet.
  6. The number of deaths on a daily basis have not declined in some areas.

It’s understandable that people want to get back to some of the things they did before the coronavirus, such as going shopping, dining out, getting their hair cut and styled, and visiting with family and friends. However, doing these things without taking proper safety precautions can lead to more cases of the virus and cause us to be quarantined for much longer. This is why it’s still important to wear masks, sanitize thoroughly, and maintain distance from others.

If you are having a hard time dealing with social distancing, please reach out to family and friends, or even a professional. Adapting these changes to our routine and lifestyle can be stressful and challenging. However, the more we adhere to social distancing and proper safety protocols, the sooner life can get back to normal.
