While our ER facility in Longview raised money for Pink Heals in October, our folks at Hospitality Health ER in Tyler Texas were fundraising for Susan G. Komen. The organization is well known for its breakthrough breast cancer research. Over half of the money the organization raises goes towards finding more effective treatments.
At the end of October, our staff at Hospitality Health ER in Tyler met with Susan G. Komen to present a check. Jeanne Shipp, founder of Hospitality Health ER stated:
“Our Tyler location was proud to present a $1000 check to Susan G. Komen again this year. It’s because of organizations like these that moms, wives, and any women affected by breast cancer have a greater chance of survival.”
Why Does Hospitality Health ER in Tyler Texas Support Susan G. Komen?
#1. Susan G. Komen strives to achieve a goal of cutting the number of breast cancer deaths in half by 2026. Hospitality Health ER believes this is possible with more awareness and more funding to support research and treatments.
#2. Susan G. Komen is credited for launching the breast cancer movement. As a dynamic organization, it tackles the issue of breast cancer from all angles. The organization is heavily involved in public policy, heads up critical research projects, and gets involved at both a community and global level.
#3. Eighty cents of every dollar donated goes directly to fighting breast cancer.
#4. After being founded in the 1980s, Susan G. Komen has had a tremendous influence on more women being screened early. The organization has also contributed to many advancements including less invasive surgical techniques, defining genetic markers for breast cancer, and treatment improvements.
