If you’ve lived in Longview for a while, you’re probably familiar with the Historic Longview Farmers Market. The farmers market is a great place to find fresh food, support local businesses, and have fun with the entire family. Since 2010, the Historic Longview Farmers Market has become a tradition for East Texas families.Â

Longview Arboretum and Nature Center will host several awesome free events throughout August, showing visitors how the arboretum garden protects native Texas plants and wildlife.
The center’s summer gardening series, “Year Round Gardening in East Texas,” takes place on August 4th, 11th, and 18th. At this event, you and your family can pick up some stellar gardening tips to take back home with you, and you don’t have to spend a dime!
And your family won’t want to miss the arboretum’s free ice cream day on August 25th at 11 a.m.!

If you have kids getting ready to go back to school, these three back-to-school events will help them get ready and get excited about starting classes.
First up, you can check out the Back to School Bash at New Beginnings on August 5th for free backpacks, games, food, and waterslides—a great way to stay cool, but just be sure that your kids stay safe on the slides.
Then, you can check out Kidz Biznez on August 12th at Maude Cobb for a free informative event that spotlights young entrepreneurs ages 6 through 17, and features over 50 vendor booths and food trucks.
Finally, you can receive school supplies and learn about community resources available for your family at the Back-to-School Supply Drive and Resource Fair on August 12th at Longview Mall.

The Casa Superhero Run is a great way to exercise with your family and raise awareness and funds for local children in the foster care system.
