Nature Activities in Galveston Labor Day Weekend 2019

Artist Boat Kayak, East End Lagoon, Sunday September 1, and Monday September 2  Artist Boat is a non-profit organization that promotes awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment. They have tours Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend at the East End Lagoon. You’ll explore the 5-mile jetty into the Gulf of Mexico watching herons and large cargo ships in action. Bay Explorations, Galveston Island State Park, Sunday, September 1, 11am-1pm Join one of the weekly explorations of Galveston Bay where the mainland and Galveston Island meet. While you’re there, you’ll see everything from the sea life in the bay to the grass and critters of the marshland. 

Grown-Up Events 

Brewmaster’s Craft Beer Festival, Moody Gardens, Friday August 30 to Sunday, September 1  This 3-day festival has graced the list of Top 3 beer events by USA TODAY. The 10th annual festival will be held over Labor Day weekend. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, get ready to taste hundreds of craft beers including rare “Taste it First” selections.

Family-Friendly Activities 

Train Rides at Galveston Railroad Museum, 11am-1:45pm  Take the family to view 100 years of locomotive history. You’ll see everything from the 1892 Southern Pacific Engine to the passenger cars of today. After you tour the museum, hop on the caboose of the Harborside Express. Your friends and family will enjoy the one-mile, open-air train ride.

Live Music Labor Day Weekend Galveston 2019

There’s always live music happening somewhere on Galveston Island. On Saturday, August 31st, you can choose from live jazz music at the Galvez Bar & Grill, (5 pm), the Tremont House at (6pm), or catch them both!
